Derek Doran
Derek has over 25 years experience in the
housing and regeneration sectors in the Midlands gained through
growing his own Management Consultancy Business (DDc) and working
for Government and Regional Agencies, three Local Authorities and
several Registered Social Landlords in the Region.
He was the Midlands Regional Director of a
National Housing Association (Riverside), before he established his
own consultancy business to achieve a better work/life balance
following the birth of his first child in 2003. Before Riverside he
worked for Nottingham City Council, Bassetlaw District Council and
Northampton Borough Council being promoted from a Lettings
Assistant up to Assistant Director level.
Derek lives in South Leicester and works for a
wide range of organisations with strategy formulation, change
delivery, policy development and implementation in housing,
regeneration, community engagement and planning. One of his
specialisms is improving governance and customer input across a
range of Organisations. He also works as a Lead Associate for the
Centre for Comparative Housing Research at De Montfort University.
Recent assignments include advising on different tenure models,
planning and housing development economics, particularly scheme
viability approaches.
Derek lives in Leicester with his partner,
Cheryl and two children Lucy and Alexander.
He is chair of his children’s schools Parent
Teachers Association, a member of the Leicester Citizens Panel and
the Leicestershire LINKS network. Derek is also a founder member of
the Spire Customer Link Committee.
